This photo journal is going to help me tell the story of sustainability as I see it play out in my daily life, based in Portland, OR and rooted in one of the most beautiful and bountiful bioregions in the world, called Salmon Nation.
Sustainability is about more than just buying renewable energy, or investing in SRI, or implementing cradle-to-cradle manufacturing. It’s as much those things as it is connecting again with your neighborhood, appreciating the smell of changing seasons, and knowing where your food comes from. It’s not an either/or but a yes/and. So the photos selected for this virtual venue tell aspects of this story as it plays out in my own backyard.
For thinking about all the aspects of a sustainable society, I’ve taken inspiration from the articulation of the Conservation Economy, developed by Ecotrust and Stewart Cowan.
I hope you will come back and share your thoughts.
